Fist Love

It's a hell of a feeling to wake up to a nice review of your latest book, let me tell you. But that's exactly what happened this morning. Wait, did I say 'nice' review? Sorry. I meant 'frikking amazing!'. Keith Harvey of the website Red Rook Review got stuck into Rynn's World and shares his thoughts. I won't say more here since you can read the review in full for yourself via this link. And don't worry. It's pretty much spoiler free.

Big thanks to Red Rook Review for letting me know about this. It really made my millennium!

I've been a fan of the Warhammer 40K Universe for about ten years now. I play the game and my army of choice is the Space Marines - Crimson Fists of course! I always liked the courageous, stern and duty-first background of the CF. I was quite excited when this novel was announced. I started to read it last weekend and I got through the first 200 pages... and it rocks! The mix of fluff description and action scenes, the tension build up, the amazing tempo of each chapters, it's so great!I can barely stop reading! At some point, it is like watching an action movie (Badlanding sequence for exemple) and for me this is the mark of a great book.Seriously, up to now, it is one of the best (if not the best) novel I read from Black Library. Can't wait to read more!
Congratulation!

I Agree with Jpwyrm. I have just finished reading Rynn's world and I have loved every bit of it. Hopefully we will get to see more Crimsom fists in the future.

High praise from both of you. Thank you very much! More Crimson Fists? Hmm... interesting idea. I've a feeling all the Space Marines Battles books may turn out to be 'one-shots', though.

Of course, I could be wrong. :)

Steve, great book. Actually, one of the best aspects of the work (in my opinion) is that it's not the usual angst-ridden grimdark 40K space marine experience, but rather a balls-to-the-wall action story (but with a soft gooey center). Kinda refreshing, actually, and makes for much faster and easier reading.

Also, your depiction of Cortez has, I feel, made up for the travesty that is his miniature. He was every 80's action movie badass distilled down and poured into a suit of power armor (Although I must wonder; there is a moment in the book (not giving away spoilers here) where Cortez charges a foe "power fist pumping in the air"...).

Anyhow, I'd been contemplating a Codex SM chapter for a while now, and although I was leaning towards the CFs, this book has provided a wonderful amount of detail for me to use, and sealed the deal for me.

Keep up the good work!
