Drive Me Closer!

As I write, work continues apace on Rynn's World. I'm into the final act now, and have to put all my energies into pulling off a suitably explosive climax. As some 40k readers have noted, the events that occurred on Rynn's World are known, but only in the very vaguest terms. My aim with this novel is to personalise those events, to show them through the eyes of those who endured them, and bring them to life.

To be honest, I think Rynn's World could have been a trilogy. The events that take place in the narrative fall quite naturally into three very distinct acts. Alas, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but not all that useful. Rynn's World was commissioned as a single novel, and that, too, has its plus points. At least there's no waiting between volumes to find out what happens next. :)

Changing topic, below you'll find a piece of artwork by the talented Dan Scott. I stumbled across this while bumming around the web one day, and got a good laugh out of it. Not sure if the caption is Dan's, but I thought Gunheads fans might get a kick out of it, so here it is:

Heh! Nice one, right?

Not much else to report at the moment. Everything is Rynn's World right now. My deadline looms ever closer, bleeding over into all other aspects of my life and utterly dominating them. It will all be worth it in the end, though. There's nothing like finishing off a new book.

Watching: X-Files Season Two (having enjoyed a nostalgic trip through Season One recently)
Reading: Meg by Steve Alten, The Clone Republic by Steven L. Kent (what is it with Steves?)
Listening to: nothing special until Nick Kyme's new audiobook comes out
Playing: (actually, I'm going to drop this category!)

Bless you, Steve - 'listening to Nick's audio book'. A hearty 'skoll!' to that (it's about Space Wolves, see... ;-)).

Don't remove the playing tag - I'm just about to head downstairs and add you to my PS3 gamer group (of none, so far - I'm new to this online gaming malarky).

Killzone 2 awaits!

Don't bless me, Nick! It- it burns!

Killzone 2 does indeed await (and will continue to do so for quite a while yet, sadly).

If I still had an Xbox Live gold membership, I'd be bashing heads in with Jim Swallow, too. I reckon it's about time Microsoft bit the bullet and made Xbox Live free... don't you?

Imagine a BL writers' exclusive gaming clan where we all form squads and go online to get utterly smashed by four-mouthed, ten-year-old drop-outs and extremist, right-wing racists.

Think I'll skip Xbox Live after all. Sorry, Jim.

I think the only reason that XBox Live is subscription is merely because the consoles themselves are so cheap....so Microsoft have to get their cash back from somewhere.

Unlike us mooks that pay over £300 (I found my receipt for my PS3 the other day....couldn't believe how much I spent in one fell swoop, though it's not my biggest spend ever)....then we get connected for nada (plus however much we pay for wireless broadband).

And I got Heart of Rage on Thursday....listened to it twice already. Awesome stuff! You were definitely right Mr. Parker.

Oh yeah, Microsoft should totally make their Live membership free - I reckon they might have too, given that the other companies do. It's totally outmoded. Move with the times Microsoft! Grrr...

And I'm loving a BL writers' squad of ass-kicking justice. And do you mean 'four-mouthed' or 'foul-mouthed', 'cause if we're tonking muties, I have no problem with that... ;-)

@Xhalax: Glad you liked Heart of Rage so much. I figured you would. It's top notch.

@Nick: Hah! I meant foul-mouthed, but I keep getting double-vision after monster writing sessions, and I can't cee my typos to correet tham! ;)

Well I love BL
I love audio books
I love Blood Angels
And I love Mr. Swallow's work....so it was a fair bet that I'd love Heart of Rage too....and it didn't disappoint.
